Benefits of Using Mycorrhizae:

  • It symbiotically bonds to the roots, then grows on and expands the roots overall surface area, thus increasing the root systems ability to hold more water and nutrients.
  • Mycorrhizae grows to cover the entire root surface with a protective symbiotic beneficial fungus thus shielding the root from attack from pathogens, by out competing pathogens.
  • Mycorrhizae feeds off a waste (carb) starch given off by plant roots, then eats this starch and gives back a super available high phosphorous plant food in return.

"Attached is a photo of my wife's dianthus. The results of 1/2 the trial packs you send me. I don't have the greatest camera for close-ups, but I hope you get the effect.
The only fertilizing they received was some cow manure. However, I don't credit it with much because we had a month of rain and it was washed out of the soil. Then I sprayed them with 1 tablespoon per gallon Neptune's Harvest Fish/Seaweed blend between Myco and Soil Blast. But that's been it. The microbes have done the rest." -Marty

What is mycorrhizae and what will do for my plants?

Mycorrhizae literally means fungus root in Latin. When this fungus is applied correctly it will attach itself to plant roots and begin to feed and grow off  wastes secreted by the roots. In return the mycorrhizae grows miles of long string like filaments that  extend much further than the plants roots can alone. A plant inoculated with mycorrhizae fungi can produce over a mile of ultra fine, ultra absorbent fungus roots in one square inch of soil. These miles of additional mycorrhizae roots extend the plants root system, making it hundreds of times larger. This larger root system makes contact with much more of the soil, and therefore can pull in many times more water and nutrients compared to untreated plants.the difference in overall root volume is staggering. And the difference in plant performance is absolutely noticeable.

Now here's the really great part. One application of mycorrhizae when your plants are small should be all you need to inoculate plants long-term. Because mycorrhizae is a symbiotic fungus the plants root system feeds the fungus and allows it to colonize and grow strong and deep into the soil. when young plants are inoculated with mycorrhizae, the fungus grows along with the roots system without any need for re-inoculation.

Think of a mycorrhizae inoculation as similar to a chickenpox vaccination given to babies. One proper dose administered when the plants are small introduces the fungus to the root system permanently, or until it's destroyed. This is why we say applying mycorrhizae two young plant roots is the most valuable single thing you can do to set your plants up for success.

Mycorrhizae provides numerous benefits to the plants root system as well as the soil surrounding it. this amazing fungus is completely natural and organic and was once present in all healthy living fertile soils. But through commercial development, removal of topsoil, compaction, and use of fungicides, many soils are severely depleted and will benefit dramatically from a reintroduction of mycorrhizae fungi.
